Wilson Creek has become one of Temecula's most visited tasting rooms largely on the strength of its Almond Sparkling Wine — a non-traditional méthode champenoise wine made from Muscat grapes with almond extract that has developed a devoted following throughout Southern California. Beyond the novelty sparkler, Wilson Creek produces solid Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and a popular Decadencia chocolate port that pairs well with the estate's warm-weather California terroir. The tasting room sits in a converted barn with sweeping views of the hillside blocks, and the outdoor seating area regularly hosts live music on weekend afternoons.

South Coast Winery is the largest and most awarded winery in the Temecula Valley, with over 100 medals at major California competitions and a portfolio that stretches from crisp Albariño and Viognier to full-bodied Petite Sirah and GSM blends. The estate covers more than 300 acres and includes a hotel, a spa, and a formal restaurant — but the tasting room is the main draw, offering flights that walk visitors through the breadth of what a serious warm-climate California winery can produce. The Wild Horse Peak Cabernet Sauvignon regularly outperforms wines from far more famous appellations.

Thornton is one of Temecula's original estate wineries, founded in 1988 on Rancho California Road, and it remains one of the most architecturally handsome properties in the valley — the winery's Spanish mission-style buildings, formal rose garden, and hilltop tasting terrace make it an ideal last stop as the valley light turns gold in the late afternoon.
