Kennedy Space Center & the Space Coast
Forty-five minutes east of Orlando, the Kennedy Space Center sits on Merritt Island between the Indian River and the Atlantic — the same strip of barrier island from which every American crewed mission since Apollo 1 has launched, and from which current Artemis and commercial missions continue to lift off. The visitor complex requires a full day and rewards one. The second day belongs to the wild: Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge wraps around the launch complex and hosts more species of threatened and endangered wildlife than any other refuge in the continental US, and Canaveral National Seashore protects 24 miles of the most remote beach on Florida's Atlantic coast.

Space Shuttle Atlantis Exhibit — Kennedy Space Center
