Mount Dora: Lakeside Antiques & Florida's Hidden Main Street
Forty-five minutes northwest of Orlando, Mount Dora sits on a bluff above Lake Dora with a Victorian downtown that has been quietly accumulating antique dealers, independent restaurants, and art galleries since the 1970s. It is one of the few small towns in Central Florida that exists for itself rather than for tourists — a place where the ratio of locals to visitors still tips the right way, where the Lakeside Inn has been open continuously since 1883, and where the afternoon light on the lake is the kind of thing that explains why Henry Flagler's railroad terminus ended up here.

Lakeside Inn
★ 4.4Florida's oldest continuously operating inn, open since 1883 on the shore of Lake Dora — a white clapboard Colonial Revival property with a porch looking directly over the water, where Presidents Coolidge and Eisenhower stayed and where the landscape of Central Florida before Walt Disney's arrival is still visible in the quiet lake and the canopy of live oaks above the lawn. Walk the grounds and take coffee on the lakefront porch before the town opens.

Lunch
Goblin Market Restaurant
★ 4.7Mount Dora's most beloved lunch spot on Donnelly Street — eclectic American cooking in an indoor-outdoor dining room with a relaxed, slightly literary atmosphere that fits the town. The menu changes regularly with Florida-sourced ingredients; the weekend brunch crowd arrives early and the line forms fast.

Afternoon
Renninger's Antique Center
★ 4.5One of Florida's largest antique markets — 700 dealers across multiple buildings and an outdoor flea market that fills the weekend with furniture, vintage jewelry, art, and the kind of Florida ephemera (orange crate labels, old Highwaymen paintings, midcentury resort ware) that accumulates when a state has been drawing visitors for over a century. Open Thursday through Sunday.

Lake Dora Waterfront & Grantham Point
★ 4.8A walk along the Lake Dora waterfront to Grantham Point at the end of Lighthouse Road — the bluff above the lake gives views across a chain of lakes that the Harris Chain of Lakes Scenic Boat Tour navigates through a series of hand-dug canals. Roseate spoonbills and osprey work the shallows below the bluff; the lighthouse at Grantham Point is the only inland lighthouse in Florida.
