The Gorge Overlook Trail follows the western rim of the Cane Creek gorge, a 1.6-mile loop that strings together a series of sandstone viewpoints growing wilder and more remote the farther you walk from the main trailhead. Rockhouse Falls and Coon Creek Falls come into view across the canyon, their thin ribbons dropping into the same great gorge that Fall Creek pours into. The trail passes through hemlock and rhododendron and along bare rimrock ledges — an ideal afternoon leg that keeps the elevation gentle while stacking up the views.
