Café des Amis in downtown Breaux Bridge is most famous for its Saturday zydeco breakfast — a full plate of eggs, boudin, biscuits, and café au lait accompanied by live zydeco music and dancing that begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until noon. Founded in a renovated 1920s hardware store on the Bayou Teche waterfront, the café occupies a central place in the cultural life of St. Martin Parish. Any day of the week the Cajun brunch menu — crawfish omelets, shrimp and grits, pain perdu with cane syrup — demonstrates why Breaux Bridge was named the Crawfish Capital of the World by Louisiana state proclamation in 1959.

The on-site La Cuisine de Maman restaurant serves authentic Cajun cooking made with period-accurate techniques. The music hall hosts live Cajun and zydeco performances most weekends.

Acadian Cultural Center — Jean Lafitte National Historical Park

The free museum's films, artifacts, and interpretive displays trace how the exiles transformed a difficult bayou landscape into one of the most distinctive folk cultures in the Western Hemisphere. Prejean's Restaurant
Prejean's is one of the landmark Cajun restaurants of Acadiana — an enormous, jovial, live-music dancehall restaurant north of Lafayette that has been serving authentic Cajun cooking since 1980. The crawfish étouffée here — made with real Atchafalaya Basin crawfish sautéed in a roux-based sauce with the Cajun trinity of onion, celery, and bell pepper — is a regional standard-bearer. The stuffed whole catfish, blackened redfish, and turtle soup are equally essential. Live Cajun music plays most evenings, and an enormous stuffed alligator named 'Big Al' presides over the dining room from the ceiling.
