The path rolls through oak-hickory woods and along open shoreline with constant water views, dipping into quiet inlets where herons stalk the shallows. It is nearly flat and family-friendly, so you can go as far as your legs allow and turn back. Deer and wild turkey are common in the early hours, and the sand beach at the trailhead is a fine place to cool off later.
