Naples & Marco Island — Fifth Avenue, Ten Thousand Islands & the Paradise Coast
A three-day drift down to Florida's polished, palm-fringed Paradise Coast, where Naples' elegant Fifth Avenue, the sugar-white beaches of Marco Island, and the mangrove maze of the Ten Thousand Islands come together for an unhurried Gulf-coast weekend about three hours south of Tampa. Day one takes in Naples' storied downtown — the shops and cafes of Fifth Avenue South, the historic Naples Pier, and the world-class Naples Botanical Garden. Day two crosses to Marco Island for its broad shell-strewn beaches and a boat cruise into the Ten Thousand Islands to shell and watch for dolphins and manatees. Day three closes with Naples' Baker Museum and the waterfront shops and seafood shacks of Tin City before the drive home. Nights are spent in Naples.
