Thunder, Mist & the World's Most Famous Waterfall

America's oldest state park, open since 1885, wrapping around three waterfalls — American, Bridal Veil, and the thundering Horseshoe Falls. Arrive early for Prospect Point at the edge of the American Falls before the crowds arrive, and walk the Goat Island bridge for the full panorama.

The food is simple and the prices are tourist-grade, but the location inside the state park — with Horseshoe Falls visible from your table — is genuinely irreplaceable. Order something light and let the view do the work.

Descend by elevator to the base of Bridal Veil Falls and walk wooden boardwalks to within feet of the cascade on the Hurricane Deck — the closest you can legally get to a Niagara waterfall. You will get soaked. The ponchos are mandatory and absolutely inadequate.
