Gorge Trails & Seneca Lake Wines

A mile-and-a-half gorge trail winds past 19 waterfalls through a narrow canyon carved by glacial meltwater. The stone steps and bridges are over a century old and the light filtering through in the morning is extraordinary. Arrive early — by 10am the trail fills quickly.

Perched at the southern tip of Seneca Lake with a deck that reaches over the water, this is the best lakeside lunch spot in the Finger Lakes. The fish tacos and locally-sourced plates are a cut above typical waterfront fare.

One of Seneca Lake's most architecturally striking wineries — a Greek Revival building on a hillside with sweeping lake views. Their dry Rieslings and estate Chardonnays are among the best in the region. The tasting room staff are knowledgeable without being pretentious.

A beloved Finger Lakes tradition — farm-to-table dinner inside one of the region's oldest estate wineries, with a terrace overlooking the vineyard rows as the evening light fades over Seneca Lake. Order the fish with a glass of their Riesling reserve.
