Payette Lake, Hot Springs & Snake River Wine Country

A three-day relaxed circuit that moves through three of the most enjoyable environments accessible from Boise at a genuinely unhurried pace. McCall on days one and two gives two full days on a beautiful alpine lake town — swimming, lakeside dining, easy forest trails, and a half-day excursion to Burgdorf Hot Springs in the Payette National Forest. Day three descends back to the Snake River Valley through Idaho's wine country, where the Sunnyslope vineyards sit on south-facing basalt benches above the Snake River in the highest-elevation wine-producing area in the Pacific Northwest. The three-day loop covers the range of Idaho landscape between the high mountain forests and the high desert river valley without ever feeling like a driving trip.

Day 1 — McCall: Payette Lake beach, Ponderosa State Park trails, Shore Lodge dinnerDay 2 — Burgdorf Hot Springs: remote primitive soak, mountain return through Long ValleyDay 3 — Sunnyslope wine district: Snake River Valley wineries, drive home
